Medical Overview for Japan
What is the program?
Our medical insurance plan provides additional coverage for hospitalization and surgical expenses on top of the social insurance, to the employees who are on the Japanese payroll.
Who is the insurance carrier?
MetLife is the carrier for the healthcare program in Japan.
Key program benefits:
Medical expenses for hospitalization arising out of sickness or accidental injury with 24-hour/worldwide coverage and natural disaster including Earthquake
Benefit Amount: Hospitalization: JPY 5,000 per day
Operation Expense: JPY 200,000 or JPY 100,000 or 50,000 depending on type of operations
Maximum Payment Days: up to 120 days per hospitalization, up to 1,000 days in aggregate
Major Exclusions: Injury/illness caused by intentional or significant negligence by policyholder, insured or beneficiaries Injury/illness incurred by driving without license or under the influence of alcohol Injury/illness due to a criminal act, an act of violence, suicide, pregnancy/childbirth or nuclear fuel materials.
How do I enroll?
The Benefits Team will enroll you for insurance benefits in your first month with Dow Jones. Please make sure your personal information in Workday including full legal name and date of birth are accurate for insurance enrollment.
